I grew up in Europe (Poland) where a lot of people eat naturally plant-based diets or balanced diets with a mix of different proteins as well as vegan ones (without even defining it as such). Some of my favourites growing up were plant-based, like pierogi (dumplings), soups, lots of salads and grain dishes.
After sticking to a plant-based diet for a few years and then working as a chef in Sydney for more than 10 years, I fell in love with the produce in Australia. The the abundance and variety of fresh fruits and vegetables allows us to create some delicious and nutritious dishes.

If you’re not vegan yourself and are trying to cater to a plant-based diet, consider these options as inspiration:
- Greek wraps: Plant-based imitation lamb, chicken, and falafel pita wraps.

- Pizzas: Go cheese-less or opt for a vegan cheese and pack these pies full of tasty vegetable toppings, and top with some fresh herbs.

We avoid cross contamination
All of the items delivered by our catering partners are required to be labelled for any common dietary requirements and allergens.
Plant-based items are separated from meat and dairy, so if you're ordering, say, sandwich platters, the meat-filled ones will be in a separate package than the vegetarian or vegan options.
Easily find vegan food options on our marketplace menus
Our aim is to make it as easy as possible to order what you need, and that includes finding the right options for your team.
If you’re looking for vegan options, there’s two ways you can filter our menus.
- After entering in your delivery address and searching, you’ll see a bar across the top of the page. Here, you can type in “Vegan” to see all items in our database that have been tagged as such.
- If there’s a specific restaurant you’d like to order from, you can look for the green circles with “Vg” written inside. O, you can use the filters on the left to see only vegan menu items, which could be handy when it’s a caterer that offers a lot of options.
Vegan catering has never been more accessible
Availability of plant-based foods has changes "remarkably", according to Greg McFarlane, a director at Vegan Australia.
Loads of supermarkets and fast food chains are now offering plant-based options.
"You can see if you walk into a supermarket, they have fridges marked plant-based or vegan that didn't exist just a few years ago, he says.
And it's not just supermarkets that are offering more than just animal products as fillings for meals.
"I can walk into just about any fast food restaurant, except for KFC... places like Grill'd, Zambreros, Hungry Jack's, they've all got quite decent vegan options.
It's still well-rounded, healthy and nutritious catering
"You can get all the required nutrients from plant-based foods," McFarlane says.
He even notes PETA advocate and body builder Patrik Baboumian is a vegan and that hasn't stopped him from becoming as strong as he is.
Zeus Street Greek, one of our catering partners, notes it uses soy proteins as an ingredient in its plant-based chicken options. According to Harvard University, it's a "nutrient-dense source of protein... especially when eaten as an alternative to red and processed meat."
Vegan catering for more complex diets
Gluten-free or nut-free diets are tough enough to cater for, but throwing veganism on top of that can make things even trickier - but it doesn’t have to be.
If you’re avoiding nuts, watch out for what’s being used as the meat alternative. Sometimes nut allergies go hand-in-hand with soy allergies - the main ingredient in tofu. Make sure to check what the fillings in sandwiches, burgers or other dishes are made of before ordering.
If you’re avoiding gluten, meals may end up being lighter as often rice, bread or noodles are used to bulk up a dish without meat. Rice is mostly gluten-free and you can get gluten-free noodles or pasta.

Does vegan food cost more?
Nope! Think about it... when you go to the supermarket, what tends to take up the biggest chunk of your bill? If you think meat and cheese, you might just be onto something!
Often, "vegan" is just considered to be another flavour or protein option on our menus. For example, if you're looking at ordering a platter of sandwiches or wraps, you can just select vegan fillings for the same price. Zeus Street Greek does just this! you can order boxes of 10 of its delicious pita wraps and opt for them to all be vegan for the same price as the meat-inclusive options.
Do all caterers offer vegan options?
Just about! You may not have a huge variety with all caterers, but there are vegan items at available with almost every caterer on our platform. Vietnamese, Thai, Indian and Japanese are usually some of the most common speciality cuisines to have a wider selection of vegan items.
Do I need to place a separate catering order for vegans?
Nope! As long as you're ordering from the same caterer, you can just add your vegan items to your order as normal. Items that are labelled as vegan on our site, will also be clearly labelled when delivered, so you'll know exactly which items to serve those on a plant-based diet.
