10 items to serve at your breakfast meetings
Did you know morning meetings can have more positive outcomes than ones held later in the day?
According to a survey by One Poll, 34% of employees said they were more focused at breakfast time. With up to 67% of staff saying they pay more attention than any other time of day.
Some CEOs even say they achieve more during breakfast meetings than others.
But everyone knows skipping the most important meal of the day is a no-go. So if you're holding an early morning business meeting be prepared to feed your team.
Whether it’s catering for a conference, training session or an office get-together, these breakfast catering menu options are definite must-haves.
Coffee, coffee and coffee
Well, that's three right there!
If you know who's coming, ask them in advance for their coffee order. It's always a nice treat when you have your morning cup just the way you like it, without having to go to the cafe. If you have a coffee machine in the office, even better! Brew enough for everyone so it's ready to go in time for the meeting.
Don't forget to check if anyone has any dietary requirements, like decaffeinated coffee, non-sugar sweeteners and non-dairy milks.
For the non-coffee drinkers, make sure you offer a selection of other warm beverages, including black and herbal teas or even hot chocolate.
Freshly squeezed juices
Not everyone likes coffee or tea.
Having some freshly pressed fruit and veggie juices are a great addition to any morning, adding a little freshness to breakfasts that may be quite carb-heavy.
The usual suspects of apple, orange and pineapple always go down well, or opt for an order of blended juices or smoothies from a nearby cafe and have them delivered.
A continental breakfast is a fool-proof option for team gatherings or training sessions. Especially if you’re not sure what direction to go in.
Served buffet style, this is not only a very cost-effective event catering menu option as it doesn't include any warm foods, but has always been a crowd favourite. You could include two or three options including:
- Assorted baked items including croissants, muffins and toast
- Seasonal fruit platter
- A variety of cereals, granolas and yoghurt (including coconut or oat for your dairy-free employees)
Hot breakfast buffets
There's just something about a breakfast buffet that makes you feel like you're on holiday. Which could lighten the mood of a business meeting a bit.
By allowing your guests to serve themselves, you can easily accommodate for allergies (they can simply avoid those items). They can also choose how much or little they want, which can save on the cost of having any wait staff serving individual meals.
Ensure you have a few buffet menu options:
- Scrambled eggs
- Sausages, bacon and hash browns
- Baked goods including muffins, croissants, scones and danishes
- Fresh fruit platters
- Yoghurt pots
If you want to go all out consider some of these:
- Waffle station offering a range of toppings including fresh fruit, whipped cream, syrup and more
- Omelette station with a chef making it fresh. Add various fillings in your omelette including cheese, ham, mushrooms, onion and more.
A buffet can also cater for different dietary needs easily, by offering something for everyone. Breakfast buffets are a great option for larger scale meetings, training sessions or conferences.
Gourmet breakfast grazing
Like a breakfast buffet, grazing tables have something to offer everyone. Stocked with selections of breads, cold cut meats, cheeses, fruits and spreads, they are a fun way to fill up.
They are a modern twist on traditional catering styles - marrying classic finger foods and continental breakfast styles and presenting it in a totally Instagram-worthy way.
Perfect for a bit of a longer meeting, employees can graze as they go, keep engaged and most importantly, well fed.
DIY breakfast stations
Who says business meetings can’t be fun? Make your next office gathering memorable with an on-site breakfast station, made fresh right in front of your eyes!
Some tempting options are:
- Waffles station, such as Wafflo in Sydney
- Pancake station with lots of tasty toppings including maple syrup, lemon, sugar or an array of seasonal fruits
- Healthy bowl stations - make your own yogurt or acai bowl, topped with granola, seeds and nuts
- Omelette station - with choices of veggies, meats and cheeses

Individually plated meals
Offer everyone a cafe-style breakfast for an extra special treat. This option offers a more formal touch to the event and would be perfect for special occasions or meetings with VIPs.
A sample menu that's perfect for those early morning meetings may include:
- Eggs benedict
- Traditional big breakfast with eggs, bacon, mushrooms and toast, omelette
- Pancakes with berries and syrup
- Smashed avocado with poached eggs
We'll make sure there's still something for all special dietary needs your office may have.
Who doesn't love a bagel?
Either keep it simple with spreads like cream cheese, jams and butter or use them for delicious breakfast sandwiches. Go for the classic smoked salmon with cream cheese option. Or opt for a delicious twist on the classic egg and bacon roll.
It’s a hearty and satisfying way to start the day, while adding a touch of class to much loved classics. It keeps things interesting with a huge range of flavour combinations. We love Shmucks Bagels in Melbourne and The Bagel Boys in Brisbane.
Healthy breakfast spread
Not all breakfast catering needs to be super indulgent. If you’re after something for the more health-conscious office, we can offer a huge variety of healthy menu options. Think low-GI wholefoods packed full of good stuff, all while looking out for the environment.
Some options you could include are:
- Fresh fruit platter
- Natural yoghurt pots with fresh fruit and berries and crunchy granola
- Granola cereal
- Whole grain bread and low-fat spreads
- Acai bowls
- Pressed juices
- Don’t forget to offer plant-based milk such as soy, coconut, almond, oat, rice and lactose free to keep all your guests happy.
Important tip! Don’t forget to account for special diets
There’s nothing worse than missing out while everyone is chowing down on an egg and bacon roll but you're vegetarian.
