Our top tips to make your office drinks the main event at your workplace.

It's Friday; the end of the working week, and the work crew has done another five days of great work.

Instead of heading to the pub and getting a round or two of cheap cocktails, house wine and basic spirits, why not host an epic happy hour at the office?

It's a great way to maintain company culture and show staff appreciation, too. Sounds like a no brainer, right?

Here's what you need to do to host the ultimate office happy hour.

Make sure the bar is well stocked

You can't host a happy hour without drinks!

Make sure you have a nice range of wines, beers, house spirits. Buying high quality from a bottle shop or from one of our convenient suppliers will certainly be more cost effective than just getting a tab at a nearby bar.

Your bar will need more than just drinks though. Ensure you've also got plenty of glasses and ice to go around. If cocktails are on the cards, get a couple of cocktail shakers, fresh mint, lemons, limes and oranges to garnish.

Hire a bartender to do the work for you

Take happy hour to the next level by bringing in a bartender or mixologist to whip up all the classic cocktails like espresso martinis or Aperol spritz.

Excuse My French offers this in Sydney, while Essence Crew is available in Melbourne.

Pair your drinks with some indulgent nibbles

We all get peckish when drinking, and serving food is also more responsible than just providing drinks. Plus, the best happy hours offer deals on food too, so why not do the same?

Here at EatFirst we have our personal favourites for what to eat with, but if you're after anything from cheese and charcuterie boards and finger foods to pizza and burgers, we're able to cater your happy hour.

Not sure what to order? Here's our happy hour checklist:

  • Red wine
  • White wine
  • Sparkling wine
  • Craft beers
  • Non-alcoholic beers and wine
  • Basic spirits, including gin, vodka and rum
  • Soft drinks for mixers and those who don't drink

How would we plan the perfect happy hour drinks here at EatFirst?

It's no surprise that we're no stranger to food and drinks here at EatFirst, and we're certainly partial to a wine, beer or cocktail when they're on offer. But what would we pair it with?

Agnieszka in Sydney would be pairing some freshly made tacos with a dark and stormy.

Where to get it from: Pablo's Kitchen

Luciano in Melbourne would be drinking a Birra Moretti Lager and biting into some piping hot pizza.

Where to get it from: 11 Inch Pizza

Alex in Sydney would find herself sipping a gin and tonic while eating too much local cheese from a grazing board.

Where to get it from: Vanilla Blue

Kim in Adelaide is also a big fan of pairing her drinks with pizza, but prefers going for a local drop, favouring Taylor's St Andrews Shiraz from the Clare Valley.

Where to get it from: Eatilly Pizza

Ash in Sydney would be working his way through a bento box and some freshly sliced sashimi while enjoying a Heaps Normal XPA (Ideal if you're looking for a non-alcoholic option that still tastes great!)

Where to get it from: Sushi Jones

Jodi in Melbourne would be washing down some savoury Greek eats with a refreshing Fellr sprizer.

Where to get it from: Hella Good
